Background

As a blogger, I have always wanted to write and talk about a place called “Myeik”, which is actually my native town where I have had a lot of my childhood memories from with lots of close friends who know me well and how much I love Myeik.I would like to introduce the Myeik Island, followed by a talk about the Myeik town proper itself.

Myeik Island

The Mergui Archipelago is located off the southernmost part of Myanmar that includes a part of the Tanintharyi Region which consists of over 800 beautiful islands.Most of these islands are located in between Myeik and Kawthaung which allows anyone to hop from island to island. The islands vary in size, with some being very small to others being several hundred square kilometers across.All of these islands pepper the Andaman Sea off the western shore of the Malay Peninsula where it joins the rest of Indochina. The islands are characterized mainly by limestone and granite, as well as beautiful white beaches that are protected from the high tides and mass tourism.
